This is my homepage at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA).
I have left NUAA, but I try to keep my updated information here.
I am currently a research scientist at Siemens Corporate Research (Princeton, New Jersey, USA).
I obtained my Ph.D. in computer science from NUAA, supervised by Prof. Songcan Chen.
During 2008.2-2011.2, I was a postdoc and then a research scientist at Arizona State University, in the lab of Dr. Jieping Ye.
My Ph.D thesis "Research on Subspace Representation of Face Images" (in Chinese) is on Feature Extraction and Face Recognition. My Ph.D. thesis was awarded the Excellent PhD Thesis of Jiangsu Province, P. R. China, in 2009.
Recently, I focused on large-scale sparse learning, and designed the SLEP package for feature selection in the large-scale scenario.
I was born in a village of the coastal city NanTong, P. R. China, in 1980. I have a happy family, with a lovely and smart son (born in the fall of 2005).

Large-Scale Sparse Learning: learning a sparse and interpretable representation of the high-dimensional data, under different structure assumptions
Feature Extraction: conducting dimensionality reduction in the unsupervised (e.g., Principal Component Analysis) and the supervised (e.g., Linear Discriminant Analysis) manner
Face Recognition: performing face recognition under various facial variations
