PARNEC (PAttern Recognition and NEural Computing) group is affiliated with the College of Computer Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China. The group is led by Prof. Songcan Chen, and consists of 5 faculty members and about 100 students. Research in the PARNEC group aims both at advancing the principled pattern recognition and machine learning methods and at developing application-oriented solutions for real-world problems in computer vision, brain science and bioinformatics.
The general goal of pattern recognition and machine learning is to make machines capable of acquiring knowledge from observations and generalizing to unseen cases. In our group, on one hand, we develop advanced methods to achieve high performance on classification and clustering with better data representation and less human efforts; on the other hand, we employ these methods to develop practical solutions in various applications.
